Brixham Harriers' 2023: A Year of Smiles, Surprises, and Serious Fun!

Hello, Brixham Harriers enthusiasts! As we lace up our running shoes and gear up for the festive season, it's the perfect time to reflect on the incredible year that was 2023. Our small but spirited club has been bustling with achievements, antics, and the kind of camaraderie that makes every stride memorable.

Ferne's Fantastic Parkrun Streak

Let's kick off with Ferne, who has been on fire with an impressive 20 parkruns in 2023! Not only did she conquer the course, but she also clocked seven personal best times. Just take a look at that beaming smile in the picture, anyone would think she had just pipped Dixie to the finish line!

Nicky's Triumph at Bath Half: A Marriage of Miles and Minutes!

Next up, let's raise a cheer for Nicky, who trained hard for the Bath Half Marathon and sliced a cool 4 minutes off her previous time. If that's not dedication, we don't know what is!

Oh, and did we mention that Nicky and fellow runner Phil are tying the knot in a few weeks? The pre-wedding celebration included a 5K with inflatable bride and groom balloons—talk about running into marital bliss!

Globe-Trotting Susan: Racing and Raising a Glass!

Our fearless Club Chairperson, Susan, took the term "destination race" to a whole new level. She globetrotted to the Beaujolais Half Marathon with three of her offspring indulging in multiple wine-tasting stops along the route. Cheers to Susan for proving that running and wine can go hand in hand!

David's Odyssey at the Oxford Half: Late Start, Swift Finish!

David, one of our seasoned runners, faced a few hiccups at the Oxford Half Marathon, arriving late due to rail strikes and roadworks. However, that didn't stop him from weaving his way past thousands of runners and leaving his mark on the course. Talk about turning a challenge into a triumph!

Lindsey's Sunday Funday: Chatty Runs and New Member Triumph!

Lindsey has been the heartbeat of our Sunday runs, gathering a merry crew for leisurely and chatty jaunts. Her positive energy and encouragement have not only built a following among our members but also helped newcomers, like Sarah H, reach new heights. Sarah, who started with "Couch to 5K" in January, achieved her goal of a first half marathon with Lindsey's unwavering support.

Sarah H's Starcross Shuffle Triumph: From Couch to Half Marathon!

Speaking of Sarah H, her journey from "Couch to 5K" to completing her first half marathon is nothing short of inspiring. With a meticulously planned training schedule and Lindsey by her side, she crossed the finish line with a smile that radiated accomplishment.

As we wrap up this incredible year, let's look forward to the festive edition of our blog, featuring the Cockington Christmas Caper, Brixham Santa Run, our club mince pie run, Christmas party, and of course the traditional New Year's Day run. (dip in the sea optional)!
